Who are we?

We are a group of volunteers who are members of Southern Baptist churches throughout the Bethlehem Baptist Association.  We are parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters.  We are your neighbors!  Most of us volunteer in our churches.  Some of us are still working, and many of us are retired.  We are a diverse group of folks who love the Lord and want to minister to others in their time of need. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus and demonstrate love to our neighbors.

What do we do?

We have been trained to help people in the event of a disaster.  The training is through the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Center in Prattville, Alabama.  Some of us have been trained to operate a chainsaw to clear trees from houses, yards,  and driveways.  Some have been trained to operate a laundry and shower trailer.  Some have been trained to work in mass feeding in case a disaster shuts off electricity or destroys homes, and people cannot prepare meals. And some have also trained as chaplains to help people spiritually and emotionally when their lives are wrecked.

How can I get involved?

Just give us a call!  You can call Donna at the Bethlehem Baptist Association office at  251-267-3875, or you can call Jim Lambert (251-362-1749) or Anne Lambert (251-362-2966).  We can get you started, and we would love to have you.

New volunteers are trained every spring, and those opportunities are publicized on this website and on the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief website at sbdr.org/events.  You can register on the state website.  Much of the training is free, and all of it is low in cost.

From time to time, we have events that are open to people who are interested in being involved.  If you give us a call, we will put you on the invitation list so you can get to know us and ask questions about this ministry.
