Statewide Missions

A lot of people don’t know how the Alabama Baptist State Convention operates.

Technically, the Alabama Baptist State Convention only exists for a couple days each year.

This is when Alabama Baptists gather together for their annual meeting in November. So the State Convention is the whole of Alabama Baptists when they’re gathered to conduct business.

The Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions is the ministry arm of the State Convention.

The State Board of Missions is tasked with coordinating statewide missionary endeavors, church planting, and leadership development. They also oversee all gifts given through the Cooperative Program, an offering that supports the missions and ministries of both the Alabama Baptist State Convention and the wider Southern Baptist Convention.

The State Board of Missions also plays a crucial role in supporting national and global missions, and works with other SBC entities and fellow state missions organizations to further the cause of Christ.
